He holds diplomas in Primary Education (Lehrerseminar Solothurn 1981), in School Music for Secondary Education, in Higher Music Education (Akademie für Schul- und Kirchenmusik Lucerne, 1990) as well as teacher diplomas for Violoncello (SMPV, 1991) and Vocal Studies (Akademie für Schul- und Kirchenmusik Lucerne, 1995).

Markus has been teaching in elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, music schools, teacher training colleges and universities. The focus of his work lies on the development of new perspectives concerning the role of music in schools and in learning environments. He coordinates the international network on «Practice and Research in Integrated Music Education» (PRIME). For Klett und Balmer Editors he leads the project «Mathe macht Musik». His articles are published widely and he is regularly invited as an international speaker and workshop leader. One of his most recent projects is the development of the multisensory educational playground «creafon».

She holds a Diploma of Primary Education (Zurich, 1984) and a MA of psychology and pedagogy at the University of Zurich (2004). She has been teaching in elementary schools (in particular for foreign-language speaking children), middle schools and continuing education. Since 2000 she is a Lecturer/Teacher trainer of language didactics (Focus French) at the School of Teacher Education of the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland. She is a co-author of a Swiss Schoolbook (incl. learning software) called "envol" for French beginners. She also published in 2008 evaluations formats for "envol" in order to be in agreement with the European Language Portfolio. Her research interests also include Learning Motivation, Language Strategies and Language Awareness.

Brigitte Bechter holds a Diploma of Primary Education (Solothurn, CH, 1982), a specialized music training for teaching music at pre- and primary school (Olten, CH, 1991) and a Postgraduate Certificate for Teaching at Secondary Schools (Bern, CH, 2010). She holds an MA of Romance Languages and Linguistics in France at the UBS (Université Bretagne Sud, Lorient, F, 2008).
She is an experienced teacher for all levels starting from pre-primary school up to university.
Her research interests include comparative literary studies, plurilingualisme and interculturality.
Since September 2009 Brigitte Bechter is responsible for module design and implementation for the Chair for Teaching and Learning French FHNW. Since 2010 she is member of the EMP-Project team.
